Washington, DC is full of wonderful restaurants, bars and lounges. And many of them turn into fun dance clubs at night on the weekends. Along with traditional dance clubs, these places let party-goers cut loose and dance the night away. Here are some of DC’s best pop dance clubs.
Clarendon Ballroom
3185 Wilson Blvd.
Arlington, VA 22201
(703) 469-2244
www.clarendonballroom.com
Clarendon Ballroom hosts weddings, meetings, private parties and more. Boasting an 80-foot-long bar in the main ballroom, the venue is also one of Clarendon’s hottest nightclubs. With 3,000 square feet of dance space, getting bumped and stepped on is far less of an issue. In fact, dance circles have been known to break out for people to show off their best moves or just make a fool of themselves. That is the best part about this club, you can have fun without a care.
Ultrabar
911 F St. N.W.
Washington, DC 20004
(202) 638-4663

Affiliated with Hot 99.5 radio station and Glow events, Ultrabar is one of DC’s go-to dance clubs. Ultrabar offers five dance floors for clubbers to move through, each with a unique experience. A favorite among college students, the club can get packed from wall to wall. But with five floors, you can always check out another area. And with the DJs and parties thrown here, many choose to look past the big crowds and just dance.
1212 18th St. N.W.
Washington, DC 20036

By day, Farragut North and Dupont Circle are full of people going to and from work. Important business deals are made and the presidential motorcade might go by. But by night, on the weekends, it is full of people looking to have some drinks and dance. Eighteenth Street Lounge is one of the top clubs in the area, and has been for nearly 20 years. ESL has five rooms that you can work your way through, while some of the best DJs out there spin all night. Stop by the next time you are out in Dupont.

Madhatter
1319 Connecticut Ave. N.W.
Washington, DC 20036
(202) 833-1495
www.madhatterdc.com
Madhatter does play up the reference to the Madhatter in “Alice In Wonderland,” but also to the original reference of an English mad hatter. Things can get a little crazy when this downtown restaurant turns into a club on the weekends. The combination of three bars, a DJ, two floors and no cover charge can lead to chaos. Usually you leave with a story to tell your friends that weren’t there with you. It’s like a crazy house party.
Grand Central
2447 18th St. N.W.
Washington, DC 20009
(202) 986-1742

Adam’s Morgan is known for how crazy it can be on the weekends and during holidays like Halloween. While it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, Adam’s Morgan does have some fun places to bar hop and dance. One of the best places is Grand Central, a casual three-level restaurant and bar, with no cover charge and no dress code. It can definitely get very hot on the bottom level where the DJs are, with people crammed in. But it gets crowded because it is one of the best places in the neighborhood.
