Best Late-Night Happy Hours in Washington, D.C.

Sometimes things don’t work out to make it in time for happy hour. Whether you were working a little late or there was traffic, sometimes seven or eight is not late enough. Luckily, there are great bars and restaurants with late-night happy hours in Washington, D.C. Here are a few you shouldn’t miss.

Ceiba

Happy Hour: Mon-Thurs from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. to close, Fri-Sat from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. to close

Every neighborhood in DC seems to be getting an influx of restaurants, and 14th Street is one of the areas that is chock full of restaurants both great and mediocre. Ceiba, not in the busy area of 14th Street, is a wonderful Latin-American restaurant that was voted “Best New Restaurant” by Washingtonian magazine when it debuted in 2003. Ceiba has an excellent happy hour. For $5, you can get one of its signature cocktails, and for $6 you can get one of the Signature Six appetizers including ceviche, fish tacos, guacamole, pupusas and nachos. For a delicious late-night happy hour, Ceiba should be high on your list.

Happy Hour: Daily from 4 p.m. to close

The Bottom Line’s happy hour starts off great on Monday and just gets better as the week goes on, culminating in “Beat the CLOCK Friday.” On Friday, there are various, extremely cheap deals every two hours, but once the clock strikes, the previous deal ends. Throughout the week you can get $1 bud lights, $6 top shelf margaritas, half-price burgers, free tacos, $3.50 baskets of wings, tater tots, and taquitos and more. This late-night happy hour is one of the best and the longest happy hours in the city.

Happy Hour: Mon-Thurs from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m., Fri from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

DC has a reputation for being elitist and pretentious with upscale and exclusive establishments. But the whole district is not like that. Town Tavern is pretty far from pretentious. The pub is laid back, fun and wallet friendly. With nightly specials, you drink and eat without breaking the bank. From $5 wing baskets on Monday nights to $2 mixed drinks, beers and wines on Fridays, and $10 for unlimited drinks on Saturdays, you can have a happy night any night at Town Tavern.

Washington, D.C. is a melting pot of various cultures and people. You can eat a different cuisine every day of the week, but sometimes you just want classic American food. District Commons serves up tasty meals from brunch to dinner and, of course, during happy hour. You can pair your shrimp and grits with any of the f$5 wines, specialty cocktails and draft beers. And if you are a late-night eater, for $12 dollars per person, you can get one of the nightly Dinner Bell meals that will make your mouth and your stomach quite happy.

Happy Hour: Mon, Tues and Thurs from 4 p.m. to close, Sun and Wed from 11:30 a.m. to close, Fri from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sat from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

This British-themed restaurant is also one of Bethesda’s biggest and most fun bars. Between watching games and dancing the night away to DJs spinning on the weekends, you can get some amazing happy hour deals. Union Jack’s has nightly specials, but what it is known for is its Power Hour. For one whole hour, all drinks are one dollar each. Whatever your poison, you can can have 10 of them and only pay $10. That is the average price of one drink in most places. There are some restrictions, but for one dollar you can’t really complain.
